Field Day and End of School Parties
Thursday, May 20 Last year as we planned our calendar, our PTF parents expressed an interest in combining field day and the end of year parties for the convenience of our parents' schedules. So, the plans were set in motion to coordinate the last day of school with both activities in mind. Field day and party events will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end with early dismissal at 12:15 p.m

Summer Skills Program
At the end of each school year parents frequently ask teachers about academic materials that are available for students to keep their skills "fresh" over the summer vacation. The best way for students to maintain academic proficiency over the summer and be ready for school in August is to practice what they have learned. In today's Informer is a brochure for the Summerbook Company which offers summer skill building books. These materials were developed using several of the publishers most frequently found in Christian schools, including the A Beka curriculum. The books are based on the grade level your child will be entering in August. There is a math and language arts lesson that can be completed in just a few minutes each day. Samples of the summer books are available for you to review in the school office. This program is offered as a service to our families and is optional. Central Day School is a participant in the Summer Book Company affiliate program. If you purchase your items through this link www.summerbookcompany.com and select Central Day School as the affiliate, CDS will receive a 7% commission on the items purchased. If you choose not to use this program, we recommend that you consider using some type of materials that will strengthen and reinforce the concepts your child has learned during this year. Another program recommended by some of our teachers is the website, bookadventure.com. This website, produced by Slyvan Learning, helps students practice reading comprehension skills. Students can read a book, take practice tests, similar to A.R. tests, and earn incentives. Of course, don't forget the great summer reading programs offered by the public libraries. Check it out this summer! If you have any questions, please call Linda Stephens in the school office. |
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8
